Garden Inspiration

If you’ve spent the last weekend raking, weeding, planting and making sure your garden is in great shape for the next few months, you’re probably thinking of investing in some outdoor seating. Garden furniture, far from being luxurious and unaffordable, is one of the best investments you can make this summer.

With so many different ranges available to suit every pocket and garden size, picking the right type of seating is important. The last thing you want is to do is purchase something too big for the space, or similarly, choose seating that does not provide the things you’re looking for. Here is a quick guide to garden seating that may help you in deciding which is best suited to you and your budget.

Sumptuous wooden benches may look beautiful in the garden, but they can also be cumbersome and take up a great deal of space. If your garden has a particularly shady spot then a bench could be ideal. Be careful with your bench through the winter months, as they don’t take kindly to heavy rain and cold weather over time. If you have a shed where you can store your garden furniture over winter, then this may be a good option.

Deck chairs

Cheap, easy to store and extremely easy to move around, deck chairs are a great option for anyone with a mid-sized garden who is looking to capitalise on the amount of sun they’re getting. The great thing about deck chairs is that they can be bought for a specific occasion and are relatively inexpensive. One major drawback is that they are not particularly hardwearing and can break quickly.

Sun loungers

Sun loungers are a high quality step up from deck chairs, containing all of their benefits with few of their drawbacks. Again, they are great for either a grassy or paved garden, and look fantastic laid out beside a pool.

Sun loungers are also very hardwearing and, unlike deck chairs, can stand up to both repeated use and changing weather during the winter. If you have a shed that they can be stored in, their collapsible nature makes them easy and painless to store should you want to get as much life out of them as possible.

Plastic chairs

Plastic chairs are another low cost way of providing seating in your garden. They often come with garden tables, meaning that you not only have somewhere to sit but somewhere to eat dinner and serve lunch as well.
